Last March, Richárd Rapport became an international chess grandmaster at age 16. With this, he beat Péter Lékó’s record in Hungary and is the fifth youngest international grandmaster in the world. Docler’s support started with a newspaper article. After speaking on the phone, a meeting followed, where Richárd’s dad expressed genuine emotion at our unconditional support. Many believe that Richárd could become the most well-known Hungarian sportsman.
His career started when he got a “B” in class, after which his father sent him to play chess to improve his concentration skills. Since then, he’s been practicing 8-10 hours a day. At the Gibraltar Open where 53 international grandmasters are competing, Richárd is currently third after playing four games. He is placed ahead of Top 10 chess player Vassily Ivanchuk.
At our Christmas event, the young talent expressed his desire to play a simultaneous exhibition with Docler employees. So if you know how to play, you better get your act together!
